Cairo, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who visited Al-Azhar Al-Sharif University in Cairo met with Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed El-Tayeb who is the Imam of Al-Azhar and discussed the importance of fighting extremist ideology against the Al-Shabaab terrorists, and the thousands of Somalis who study at the Al-Azhar University.
The President who talked about the importance of religious institutions and centers for extremist ideology invited Sheikh Ahmed to come visit Somalia and see the development and fruition of the government of Somalia.
On his part, Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed El-Tayeb who thanked the President for the invitation accepted to visit and strongly condemned the Ethiopian government’s intervention in the independence and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, noting that it needs to be defended together against anyone who abuses it.
