Somalia is a Muslim nation and religion plays a significant role in its culture and history. Over the years, terrorists groups such as Al-Shabaab and Da’ish have used the religion as a guise to justify their atrocities. However, the recent declaration by the Somali scholars regarding these groups has dealt a significant blow to their deceptions. The scholars have clearly stated that the war against these terrorists is a legitimate defense of the great principles of Islam, including the protection of religion, life, property, intellect, and dignity of humanity.

This declaration serves as a strong reminder that religion should never be used as a tool for violence and oppression. The scholars’ call for the fight against these groups is a clear rejection of their twisted ideology, and reinforced the importance of preserving the true teachings of Islam. The declaration also sends a message of unity and support for the efforts of the Somali government and military in the fight against terrorism.

Moreover, the declaration highlights the role of religious leaders in promoting peace and stability in society. By taking a strong stance against terrorism and reaffirming the values of Islam, the scholars have demonstrated their commitment to the well-being of the Somali people and their country. This can have a profound impact on the society, as it provides a moral compass and a source of guidance for the general public.

The conference of the Somali Scholars serves as a reminder of the role of religious leaders in promoting peace and stability, and in addressing the pressing issues facing the country. As Somalia continues to recover from decades of conflict, it is crucial for all stakeholders, including the government and the international community, to support the efforts of the Scholars in bringing peace and stability to the nation. The conference concluded with several key points that highlight the stance of the Somali Clerics on the matter.

The first point was a declaration of the fight against Al-Shabaab and Da’esh as a justified jihad to defend the Islamic values of life, property, intellect, honor, and religion. The Clerics also issued a unanimous condemnation of Al-Shabaab and Da’esh as Kharijite criminals who pose a threat to human life and well-being.

The conference further emphasized the importance of forbidding any form of association or hiding of these extremist groups, and encouraged people to share any information they have with the government to ensure the safety of the Somali people. Additionally, the Scholars urged President Hassan Sheikh Mahamud to prioritize the completion of the constitutional process for the stability of the country.

Lastly, the conference called on politicians to maintain peace and unity in Somalia, and to support the government’s efforts against the extremist groups. The message from the conference is clear: the Somali Clerics stand united against extremism and violence, and call for a peaceful and stable Somalia.

In conclusion, the recent declaration by the Somali scholars regarding the fight against terrorism has the potential to significantly impact the discourse around terrorism in Somalia. By rejecting the false justifications used by terrorists and reaffirming the values of Islam, the scholars have sent a strong message of unity and hope for a brighter future.
