Mogadishu, SONNA – Kenya’s Intelligence Chief, Noordin Haji, arrived in Mogadishu today for a high-level visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism. Haji was warmly received by his Somali counterpart, Mahad Salad, upon his arrival in the Somali capital.

During his visit, Haji is set to meet with top Somali leaders to discuss joint efforts between Somalia and Kenya to prevent cross-border terrorism and combat the threat posed by the militant group Al-Shabaab. The talks are expected to focus on intelligence sharing and coordination of security operations along the shared border between the two countries.

The visit comes amid ongoing efforts by both Somalia and Kenya to improve security and stability in the region. Al-Shabaab, which has been waging an insurgency against the Somali government for over a decade, has also carried out several high-profile attacks in Kenya in recent years.

The two countries have a shared interest in defeating the militant group and preventing its ability to carry out cross-border attacks. The visit by Kenya’s Intelligence Chief is seen as a positive step towards enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two countries in this regard.
