Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Gen. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), held talks with El Hadji Ibrahima Diene, the African Union’s Special Envoy for Somalia, to discuss strengthening cooperation on security and stabilization efforts.
The meeting focused on enhancing security collaboration, continued support for the African Union mission in Somalia, and joint efforts aimed at stabilizing the country. Both sides also discussed ways to strengthen coordination between the Ministry of Internal Security and the African Union mission to accelerate plans aimed at reinforcing peace and security.
Minister Fartaag thanked the African Union for its important role in supporting the Somali government, particularly in the areas of security and national stabilization.
For his part, Ambassador El Hadji Ibrahima Diene reaffirmed the African Union’s commitment to continuing its support to Somalia in order to achieve lasting peace and stability.
The meeting was also attended by the National Security Advisor to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Ambassador Aweis Hagi Yusuf Ahmed, and the Director General of the Ministry of Internal Security, Yusuf Ali Mohamed.
