Federal Government Officials Participate in Djibouti Independence Day Commemoration in Beledweyne

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – A delegation led by Somalia’s Minister of Defense, and accompanied by the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Abdifatah Kasim Mahamud, participated in a ceremony in Beledweyne marking the 49th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Djibouti from French colonial rule.
The delegation included the Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to Somalia, Osman Doubad, the State Minister for Internal Security, H.E. Mohamed Ali Hagaa, members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, officials from the Hirshabelle State administration, the Waaberi National Troupe, and other senior officials.
The event was held at the Djiboutian contingent headquarters serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia in Beledweyne, where participants commemorated Djibouti’s 49th Independence Day.
The ceremony also highlighted Somalia’s historic support for Djibouti’s struggle for independence from French colonial rule and reaffirmed the longstanding brotherly relations, cooperation, and shared history between the two neighboring nations.
