MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, received the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Hassan Omar Mohamed, at his office in Mogadishu today. The visiting Minister arrived in the capital to participate in the 35th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers of Defense and Security of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).
The two ministers engaged in a comprehensive dialogue focused on strengthening strategic cooperation in the fields of security and defense. The discussions also addressed broader regional collaboration, aiming to align efforts to ensure stability and peace in the Horn of Africa.
During the meeting, Minister Fiqi expressed profound gratitude for the significant role Djibouti has played in Somalia’s state-building process over the years. He specifically highlighted Djibouti’s active participation in the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), describing it as a clear demonstration of consistent support and the genuine brotherhood that exists between the two nations.
The high-level meeting was attended by the Chief of the Somali National Army, Major General Odawa Yusuf Rage, the Ambassador of Djibouti to Somalia, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim Yusuf, and other senior officials representing both delegations.
