Somalia Unveils Printed Federal Constitution in Push to Broaden Public Access

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somali parliamentary leaders, constitutional review officials and justice ministry representatives on Wednesday launched printed copies of the Federal Constitution in a move aimed at widening public access to the country’s foundational legal document and supporting its implementation by state institutions.
The event was attended by First Deputy Speaker of the House of the People Sadia Yasin Haji Samatar, First Deputy Speaker of the Upper House, Ali Sha'ban Ibrahim, members of the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission (ICRIC), the Office of the Constitutional Review and representatives of the Ministry of Justice.
Officials said the initiative will give Somali citizens greater access to the constitution while helping institutions implement its provisions more effectively.
Addressing the event, Saadiya said both houses of parliament had invested time and effort to ensure Somalia attains a completed constitution that is no longer provisional, describing the document as central to the country’s state-building process.
The launch comes as Somalia continues work on reviewing and finalizing its constitutional framework through parliamentary and institutional processes.
