Information Minister Discusses Strategic Media Cooperation with Turkish Disinformation Countermeasure Official

Mogadishu, (SONNA) - The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Abdulfatah Qasim Mohamud, met with Deniz Demir, the Coordinator of the Centre for Combating Disinformation under the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, who is currently on an official working visit to Mogadishu.

The Minister and the coordinator discussed strengthening cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye in the field of information and leveraging Türkiye's expertise and knowledge in countering and combating disinformation and fake news.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the potential risks that fake news and disinformation pose to society, security, and the strategic relations between the two countries, highlighting the importance of establishing sustained cooperation to safeguard accurate information and public trust.
