Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre visited the headquarters of the National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC), where the distribution of voter cards for the upcoming elections has officially begun.
The Prime Minister urged all citizens who successfully registered to collect their voter cards and exercise their long-denied constitutional right to vote. “I call upon, insist, and strongly encourage every Somali who had the opportunity to register to collect their card, cast their vote, and demonstrate their constitutional power that was denied for many years,” he said.
Prime Minister Hamza praised the Electoral Commission and security agencies for their extensive efforts, noting that the institutions had worked diligently and professionally since the start of the electoral preparations.
He described the launch of voter card issuance in Banadir Region as a historic moment, marking the beginning of a process that will allow registered residents to participate in Mogadishu’s long-awaited local elections.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the DanQaran government is fully prepared to provide all necessary support to ensure the smooth implementation of the electoral process.
