Somalia Welcomes the MoU Between the USA and the Islamic Republic of Iran

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Federal Republic of Somalia welcomes the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran as a positive step toward de-escalation, dialogue, and regional stability.

Somalia commends both parties for choosing diplomacy and engagement to reduce tensions and promote peace.

Somalia also commends the constructive efforts of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Türkiye in supporting this diplomatic progress.

Somalia further recognizes the important role and engagement of His Excellency President Donald J. Trump in advancing efforts toward peace.

Somalia hopes the understanding will be implemented in good faith and contribute to protecting civilian lives, safeguarding freedom of navigation, and preventing further escalation.

The Federal Republic of Somalia reaffirms its support for diplomacy, respect for international law, and the peaceful resolution of disputes. Somalia welcomes all efforts that promote peace, security, and stability in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, and the Red Sea region.
