Interior Ministry Launches National Consultation in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkadir Ali, today officially opened the National Consultation on the Establishment and Operationalization of the National Insider Peace-builders and Nabadoons Network (NIPN), a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening Somalia’s peace architecture and institutionalizing community led approaches to conflict prevention and resolution.
The proposed network seeks to create a nationally owned platform that brings together peacebuilders, mediators, Nabadoons, and community leaders whose efforts continue to play a critical role in fostering dialogue, resolving disputes, and strengthening social cohesion across Somalia. By connecting these actors through a coordinated framework, the initiative aims to enhance collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective action in support of national reconciliation.
In his remarks, the Director General emphasized that sustainable peace depends on empowering and connecting those working closest to communities. He noted that the NIPN will serve as an important bridge between local peace initiatives and national peacebuilding efforts, ensuring that community voices and experiences contribute to broader reconciliation and state building processes.
He further called for the development of a clear and practical roadmap to guide the network’s operationalization and long term sustainability, while commending all stakeholders and partners whose commitment and collaboration have helped bring the initiative to this important stage.
