Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, today attended a ceremony where the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) handed over ICT equipment to the Ministries of Defence, Internal Security, and Justice and Constitutional Affairs, aimed at strengthening the capacity and efficiency of these key institutions.
Minister Fiqi noted that the new ICT systems form part of the Ministry’s reform agenda, designed to enhance transparency, accountability, and institutional performance.
He thanked the European Union and the United Nations for their continued support to Somalia, describing the handover as a demonstration of partnership and shared commitment to building a modern and effective defence institution.
The ceremony was also attended by the Minister of Internal Security, H.E. Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, H.E. Hassan Moallim, the EU Ambassador to Somalia, Amb. Francesca Di Mauro, the UNOPS Country Director, and senior officials from both the European Union and the United Nations.
