Prime Minister Hamza Arrives in Dhuusamareeb for Working Visit Focused on State-Building
PM received by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kaariye and senior officials as he begins a multi-day engagement with regional leadership and community representatives.

DHUUSAMAREEB, June 24, 2026 (SONNA) — Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre arrived Wednesday in Dhuusamareeb, the capital of Galmudug State, for a working visit aimed at strengthening state-building efforts and deepening federal-state cooperation.
The Prime Minister was given a warm reception at Dhuusamareeb Airport by Galmudug State President Ahmed Abdi Kaariye, Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Mahad Mohamed Salad, and representatives of the various segments of Galmudug society, including community elders, women, and youth groups who lined the tarmac waving the Somali national flag and the Galmudug State flag.
During his stay in Dhuusamareeb, Prime Minister Hamza is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with the leadership of Galmudug State and representatives of civil society, focusing on governance consolidation, security cooperation, and service delivery to citizens of the state.
The visit reflects the Federal Government's commitment to active and direct engagement with Federal Member States as a cornerstone of its state-building agenda, with the Prime Minister making working visits to regional capitals a consistent feature of his administration's approach to federal-state relations.
Dhuusamareeb serves as the administrative capital of Galmudug State, one of Somalia's five Federal Member States, and has been a focal point of security and governance progress in central Somalia in recent years.
