Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre Attends Italian National Day Celebration in Mogadishu

Mogadishu – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Honorable Hamsa Abdi Barre, participated today in a ceremony commemorating the Italian National Day at the Italian Embassy in Mogadishu.

The event marked an opportunity to celebrate and strengthen the longstanding relationship between Somalia and Italy, as well as express gratitude for Italy’s ongoing support in the country’s development. Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre acknowledged Italy’s significant contributions to Somalia’s reconstruction efforts and emphasized the importance of fostering closer ties between the two nations.

In his address at the ceremony, Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre expressed his appreciation for Italy’s continuous support to the Somali government and its commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation. He highlighted the significance of the Italian National Day celebration as a platform to underscore the deep bonds between the two countries.

“I am pleased to participate in the celebration of the Italian National Day, as it allows us to highlight the deep bilateral ties between our nations. Italy, since its involvement in Somalia’s reconstruction, has been instrumental in fostering the close partnership between our people and government. I extend my appreciation to both the Somali population and the government for their resilience in overcoming the challenges of the past and their efforts to build a better future for the displaced Somali citizens,” said Prime Minister Hamsa.

The Prime Minister further emphasized the importance of the continued collaboration between Somalia and Italy in various sectors, including security, economic development, and humanitarian assistance. He praised Italy’s role in supporting Somalia’s progress and expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided to Somali citizens.

The Italian National Day celebration was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, representatives from international organizations, and members of the Somali community. The event showcased the strong partnership and friendship shared between Somalia and Italy.

Italy has been a crucial ally in Somalia’s journey towards stability and progress. The country’s commitment to providing aid, expertise, and investments has contributed significantly to the reconstruction and development efforts in various sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, and governance.

As the ceremony concluded, Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre expressed optimism for the future of the bilateral relationship and reiterated the Somali government’s commitment to working closely with Italy to strengthen cooperation and achieve shared goals.
