SNA Executes Sustained Humanitarian Water Relief Operations in Lower Shabelle Following Khawaarij Sabotage

MARKA (SONNA) — The Somali National Armed Forces (SNA) have launched a critical civil-military relief operation, deploying daily water delivery missions to support the civilian population in Dhanaane, located on the outskirts of Marka in the Lower Shabelle region. Operating directly from their forward positions in Jazeera, government troops are mobilizing water tankers to ensure the immediate survival of local families.

This emergency logistical intervention was engineered to counter the severe humanitarian crisis caused by the deliberate destruction of local infrastructure. Khawaarij elements, operating in the region before their expulsion, systematically destroyed water wells and other essential facilities, intentionally weaponizing resource scarcity to punish the civilian population.

Military commanders leading the active counter-terrorism operations confirmed that deploying these daily relief convoys is an absolute operational priority. They emphasized that the SNAF mandate extends beyond kinetic combat, encompassing the direct physical and logistical protection of Somali citizens recovering from extremist occupation.

Despite the military’s robust intervention, the economic devastation left behind by the Khawaarij remains highly acute. Local residents, who report being entirely unable to afford even half a dollar for a standard 20-liter water container, are expressing an urgent need for permanent state intervention. The community is actively petitioning the Federal Government to transition from emergency relief to permanent stabilization by drilling new boreholes and constructing formal educational facilities to secure a viable future for their children.
