Mogadishu, Somalia – The Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Bihi Iman Ige, actively participated in the annual conference of the African Development Bank (AfDB). During the conference, he engaged in special meetings with high-ranking officials from the UK, Norway, and the Netherlands governments.
Minister Bihi held separate discussions with the Ministers of Development from the UK and Norway, Mr. Andrew Mitchell and Mrs. Bjørg Sandkjær, respectively. The focus of these meetings was on Somalia’s economic priorities following debt relief and financial development support. These bilateral exchanges aimed to strengthen cooperation and explore avenues for sustainable economic growth in Somalia.
Additionally, Minister Bihi met with Mrs. Sanne Loewenhardt, the Special Envoy for East Africa from the Government of the Netherlands. Mrs. Loewenhardt, a prominent participant in the AfDB conference, discussed ways to enhance collaboration between Somalia and the Netherlands in various sectors.
Expressing gratitude, Minister Bihi thanked the leaders of the governments he met for their constructive engagement in the ongoing process of reforming Somalia’s finances. He emphasized the collective efforts required to navigate the complex challenges faced by the country.
