Minsk, (SONNA) — Somalia’s Ambassador to Russia, Mohamed Zubeyr, has formally presented copies of his Letters of Credence to Sergey Lukashevich, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, accrediting him as Somalia’s non-resident ambassador to Belarus.
The presentation marks a key step in the formal diplomatic recognition process between the two countries.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Zubeyr conveyed greetings from the President and people of Somalia, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in political, economic, trade, and cultural sectors.
Both sides underscored the importance of advancing shared interests, contributing to regional stability, development, and closer international collaboration.
Deputy Foreign Minister Lukashevich welcomed the ambassador and expressed Belarus’ support for Somalia’s diplomatic efforts, while commending the growing cooperation between the two nations.
The meeting reflects Somalia’s continued efforts to deepen diplomatic engagement and unlock new opportunities for partnership based on mutual interests.
Further expansion of cooperation between Somalia and Belarus is expected in the coming months.
