Somali Ambassador to Burkina Faso Holds Productive Talks on Mining Investment
OUAGADOUGOU – Somalia’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, H.E. Jama Hassan Khalif, held separate high-level meetings today with Burkina Faso’s Minister of Mines and Energy, Yacouba Zabré Gouba, and the President of the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce, Roland Achille Sow, to strengthen bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
During his meeting with Minister Gouba, discussions focused on investment opportunities in Burkina Faso’s mining sector and ways Somali entrepreneurs can benefit from them. The minister warmly welcomed Ambassador Khalif and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening the brotherly relations between the two nations.
He emphasized that Burkina Faso remains open to Somali investors and provided detailed information on mining exploration licensing procedures and the country’s large-scale gold production industry. Burkina Faso is the fourth-largest gold producer in Africa.
Ambassador Khalif also met with Roland Achille Sow, President of the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce, where the two sides discussed expanding trade ties between Somalia and Burkina Faso. Their talks focused particularly on facilitating the export of Somali fish to the Burkina Faso market, a proposal that was warmly welcomed.
