Mogadishu, SONNA – Ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia today participated in a farewell ceremony for the first group of 431 Somali pilgrims departing from Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu. These pilgrims are embarking on their journey to Saudi Arabia to perform this year’s Hajj.

Among the ministers present at the ceremony were the Minister of Endowment and Religious Affairs, Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali; the Minister of Health, Dr. Ali Haji Aden; and the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Mohamed Farah Nuh. Representatives from the Hajj Transportation Committee and other officials also joined in seeing off the pilgrims.

This year, the total contingent of Somali pilgrims performing the Hajj is expected to reach up to 11,500. Pilgrims will be traveling from various airports across the country, including Hargeisa, Puntland, and Mogadishu. The organized transportation of pilgrims, which began today, is scheduled to continue until May 31st.

The Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs, in collaboration with the Hajj Transportation Committee and the Somali Embassy in Saudi Arabia, is working diligently to ensure that all Somali citizens can perform their sacred Hajj pilgrimage efficiently and without complications.
