Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Somali National Armed Forces today conducted a planned security operation near the villages of Deegaanleey, Muryaale, and Ceelka Waranle, located along the Shabelle River in the Middle Shabelle region.
The operation targeted Al-Shabaab militants who had infiltrated the area and were responsible for acts of extortion, looting, and ongoing intimidation of local residents.
The forces successfully cleared the area of militants attempting to hide in parts of the region. Additionally, several individuals suspected of having links to the group were apprehended and are currently under investigation for their suspected role in supporting terrorist activity
