Mogadishu, June 10, 2026(SONNA)-Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abdulfatah Kasim Mohamud, met European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Francesca Di Mauro, in Mogadishu on Wednesday to discuss strengthening cooperation in media development, public awareness, and efforts to combat misinformation.
The two sides explored ways to enhance collaboration on public awareness campaigns, counter disinformation, and address the misuse of social media platforms that can threaten security, stability, and social cohesion.
Minister Abdulfatah commended the European Union’s continued support for Somalia in state-building, media development, governance, and institutional capacity building, while calling for deeper cooperation in modern media, culture, and tourism.
Ambassador Di Mauro reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting Somalia, particularly in promoting responsible media, strengthening resilience against misinformation, and advancing stability and national development.
