Environment Minister Promotes One-Person, One-Vote Elections During Galmudug Visit

Dhusamareb (SONNA)-Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Federal Government of Somalia,MP Bashir Mohamed Jama, has concluded a tour of Galmudug aimed at promoting public participation in the one-person, one-vote electoral process.
The minister met with traditional elders, religious leaders, women, youth, businesspeople, educators, and other community representatives in Dhusamareb and Galkayo, urging citizens to safeguard peace and actively participate in the democratic process.
The delegation also visited rural communities, including Bitaale and Sangaduud, where the minister listened to residents' concerns and emphasized the importance of rural participation in shaping Somalia's democratic future.
"After nearly 50 years, the Somali people have the opportunity to directly elect their leaders. It is our responsibility to preserve peace, unite our voices, and exercise our constitutional rights," the minister said.
The visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen democratic awareness and encourage broad public participation in Galmudug's one-person, one-vote elections.
