Update: Somali, Macawisley forces kill 20 militants south of Beledweyne town

Mogadishu:-Somali National Army on Friday morning killed about 20 Al-Shabaab militants and injured more others after conducting an operation against the group at an area about 35 KM south of Beledweyne town in Hiiraan region.

Farah Mohamed Hassan, former Hirshabelle State Minister for Transport told Radio Mogadishu that  SNA and Macawisley, a local forces in the region learned that Al-Shabaab militants entered Mohamed Hassan location secretly and forces attacked them then fighting broke out between the two sides, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorists.

Hassan added that the forces liberated Bardhere, and Berhano locations earlier and did Mohamed Hassan area today.

”We destroyed their bases here and we are still in the fight to liberate more and pursue them. The operation goes on successfully”, he said.

“Heavy fighting between Al-Shabaab, SNA and Macawisley in one side is still taking place. We heard two loud explosions and gunfire from the direction of  Bardhere,  Beer-hano and Mohamed Hassan”, an eyewitness told Hiiraan Online by phone.
