Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Somali National Army’s Danab Commandos conducted a targeted security operation in the Towfiiq area, under Tora-Toorow in the Lower Shabelle region. During the operation, two members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, who had been actively involved in extortion and threatening the safety of local civilians, were apprehended.
Preliminary investigations confirmed that one of the detainees, identified as Zakariye, is the son of Moallim Abdirahman, a senior Al-Shabaab leader currently being pursued by the Armed Forces.
The Commandos also seized a motorcycle used by the terrorists for mobility, as well as weapons and other materials that indicate ongoing planning of attacks targeting civilians.
This operation is part of the continuous nationwide efforts to dismantle the Al-Shabaab network and to strengthen the security and protection of the Somali people
