Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Validation Workshop for Somalia’s NDC 3.0 was officially opened today by H.E. Ahmed Omar Mohamed , State Minister of Environment and Climate Change.
He expressed pleasure in gathering for the endorsement and consultation on this Somali-led initiative, part of the National Transformation Plan (NTP). The NDC 3.0 reflects the aspirations of the Somali people and aims to reduce climate change challenges whose impacts are visibly affecting lives, appreciating the efforts to address these pressing issues.
Federal government institutions and stakeholders are now convened, ready to engage in crucial discussions to validate Somalia’s national climate action plan.
In his Welcoming Remarks, Director General Yussuf Samatar highlighted the Ministry’s central role in coordinating Somalia’s NDC 3.0 policy and implementation. He emphasized the strong collaboration across all government levels and stakeholders is essential for the success of this national climate action.
The Director General, also stated that the NDC3 represents a critical national initiative, having progressed through various stages and now nearing its official inauguration. Its core aim is to strengthen the development and preservation of Somalia’s natural resources, offering a framework to proactively address climate-related dangers.
