MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF), operating in direct coordination with international defense partners, executed a highly successful, intelligence-driven air operation against Khawaarij militants in the Mudug region. The precision strike targeted a major militant gathering in the vicinity of Tawarmooge, located approximately 8 kilometers south of Aad and 45 kilometers north of Harardhere.
This decisive operation neutralized a critical militant assembly point where the group was actively preparing coordinated attacks designed to destabilize the region and harm the Somali civilian population. The preemptive strike effectively dismantled a significant operational node, demonstrating the Federal Government’s enhanced intelligence capabilities and lethal operational reach.
According to preliminary assessments, the airstrike resulted in the deaths of approximately 70 Kharijite militants, including several senior commanders. Furthermore, between 90 and 95 militants sustained injuries, drastically degrading the group’s combat readiness in the sector. The operation also successfully destroyed 8 military vehicles, notably including critical logistical transports carrying significant military supplies, thereby crippling the group’s immediate supply lines.
The Ministry of Defence officially confirmed the success of the operation and reiterated its absolute commitment to the total eradication of terrorist elements from Somali territory. The Ministry emphasized that the SNAF maintains full operational tempo and will continuously execute aggressive operations to systematically degrade the Kharijites’ capabilities, ensuring the permanent security and stability of the Somali people.
