Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), has issued official decisions suspending joint plenary sessions of both chambers of Parliament, as well as sessions of the House of the People.
The decision follows disorder that erupted during a joint session of the two chambers held on January 28, 2026.
In addition, the Speaker issued a final warning to several members of the House of the People accused of involvement in the disruption. He stressed the need to uphold parliamentary order, discipline, and internal rules, and emphasized the importance of protecting the dignity and institutional integrity of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
