Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA): Somalia’s Minister of Public Works, Reconstruction, and Housing, Dr. Ilmi Mohamud Nor, recently held an important meeting with Kristina Svensson, the World Bank’s representative in Somalia, during his official visit to Nairobi, Kenya. The discussion centered on fostering collaboration to accelerate key infrastructure and development projects in Somalia.
During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of advancing existing initiatives, including Nagaad and Shiib, which focus on improving Somalia’s public infrastructure, roads, and water systems. The discussions highlighted the commitment to ensuring the timely implementation of these projects in alignment with Somalia’s broader development agenda.
Dr. Nuur expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that Somalia is eager to strengthen its partnership with the World Bank to boost economic growth and improve living conditions for its citizens. Svensson, in turn, reaffirmed the World Bank’s dedication to supporting Somalia’s development through strategic investments and technical expertise.
The meeting concluded with both leaders agreeing on the importance of transparency, efficiency, and sustainability in project execution.
