Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Yusuf Mohamed, held a productive meeting with the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Pier Mario Daccò Coppi, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu. The discussion focused on reinforcing Somalia’s labour institutions and expanding employment opportunities across the country.
Key topics included enhancing Italian support in areas such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), job creation, and workforce skills development. Both sides explored ways to revive and deepen the strategic partnership between Somalia and Italy in vocational training, with a shared goal of creating sustainable employment opportunities for Somali youth.
The meeting also addressed joint efforts to advance the Decent Work Agenda, a global initiative aimed at promoting workers’ rights, reducing unemployment, and improving job quality. Minister Yusuf and Ambassador Coppi agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation on labour and social development to support Somalia’s ongoing recovery and economic growth.
