“On 23 March 2020, the elite 1st Danab Advanced Infantry Battalion, conducted an operation that resulted in the capture of a high-profile senior al-Shabaab member in the vicinity of Wanlaweyn.
This operation was a massive win for the Federal government of Somalia, the Federal Member States, and the Somali Security Force. Infantry from the 1st Danab entered the city at night, using its cover to close in on the target.
This ensured surprise and prevented an attempted escape by the terrorist.Conducting a successful night mission is one of the hardest operations for an army to do.
The successful operation displays the increased capability of the Danab Brigade to conduct these complex operations.
The capture of IBRAHIM MOHAMED ROOBLE, a known al-Shabaab tax collector and Amniyat in the region, comes only a few days after the Somali National Army announced it had captured the senior al-Shabaab intelligence chief Hassan Suley, following the successful Joint SNA, AMISOM,
