Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Hassan Kobac Foundation, representing Senator Xasan Kobac, on Monday launched the second phase of an emergency water-trucking operation in Maroodile, delivering 50 water tankers to drought-affected communities in parts of Hiiraan.
The initiative, unveiled in Maroodile, is benefiting both residents and livestock severely impacted by the ongoing drought across the area and surrounding villages. Prolonged dry conditions have left many communities facing acute water shortages.
In recent months, the Foundation has expanded its water relief efforts across the regions of Hiiraan and Bakool, aiming to ensure families and pastoralists have access to safe, clean water amid worsening drought conditions.
The launch event was attended by community leaders who expressed appreciation for the support, including Senator Hassan Kobac, Sheikh Abdullahi, Sheikh Adan, traditional elder Mohamed Hassan Ibrahim, and Barre Ali Dheere, a member of the Maroodile local committee.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Ibrahim Abdi Mohamed reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to sustaining water-trucking operations and providing humanitarian assistance to drought-affected populations, underscoring the goal of mitigating the impacts of drought and safeguarding lives and livelihoods.
