Khartoum (SONNA):The Ministerial Council of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the European Union held a consultative meeting in Khartoum the capital city of Sudan, with the participation of the High Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Security, Vice-President of the European Union Commission, Mr. Joseph Burrell Fontelles.
The Federal Republic of Somalia was represented in the consultative conference by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Federal Government His Excellency Ahmed Issa Awad, the Ambassador of the Republic to Sudan His Excellency Muhammad Sheikh Ishaq, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Muhammad Ali Noor, in addition to diplomats at the embassy.
The conference highlighted all issues related to peace and security among the member States , issues of migration, climate change.
The consultative conference also dealt with the security situation in the countries of the region, especially Somalia and South Sudan, and the current developments in Sudan.
