The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Saleh Ahmed Jama, has presided over the official handover ceremony of leadership at the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, marking a key transition within one of the country’s critical public institutions.
During the ceremony, Mr. Hussein Kasim Yusuf formally assumed his duties as the new Director of the agency, taking over from the outgoing Director, Mr. Mustafa Sheikh Ali Dhuhulow.
Officials at the event presented a comprehensive overview of the agency’s ongoing activities, as well as priority standards and reforms set to guide its future operations. These include efforts to enhance efficiency, strengthen service delivery, and modernize administrative systems within the Agency.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Prime Minister Saleh Ahmed Jama emphasized the strategic importance of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency in safeguarding national security and regulating cross-border movements. He noted that the institution plays a vital role in monitoring the country’s borders and ensuring compliance with immigration laws.
He further highlighted the agency’s central function in delivering essential public services, particularly the issuance of passports and travel documents, which remain critical for Somali citizens. The Deputy Prime Minister underscored the need for continued improvement in service accessibility and quality to meet public demand.
The leadership transition is expected to reinforce institutional performance and support ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening Somalia’s immigration management and citizen services.
