ISTANBUL (SONNA) – The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mahamud Ahmed Adan (Geesood), held a productive bilateral meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Prof. Γ–mer Bolat, in Istanbul today. The meeting took place during the Turkey-Africa Business and Economic Forum.

The core focus of the discussion was strengthening the historic economic and trade partnership between Somalia and Turkey, and identifying opportunities to expand trade and investment between the two nations.

Crucially, the two ministers specifically addressed methods for securing market access in Turkey for Somali products. They discussed how goods such as fish, minerals, and natural produce could be successfully exported to the Turkish market. This cooperation is expected to significantly contribute to Somalia’s economic growth and stimulate the development of the country’s private sector.

The meeting shows the mutual commitment of Somalia and Turkey to deepen their economic collaboration and is a strategic step toward turning Somalia’s raw resources into viable export commodities.
