Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has arrested three Al-Shabaab operatives in two separate operations aimed at preventing terrorist attacks in the capital, Mogadishu.
In a planned operation carried out yesterday afternoon on the outskirts of Dayniile district, Banadir region, NISA forces apprehended two militants identified as Nuur Muxudiin Jabriil and Mohamed Abdirahman Mahmoud. The pair was caught attempting to smuggle explosives into the city, including:
• Three pressure-plate IEDs,
• Five adhesive bombs, and
• Two F1 hand grenades.
In a separate raid in Dharkenley district, NISA arrested another suspected militant, Ali Mohamed Abdi, also known as Macruuf or Ali Fowdo within Al-Shabaab’s ranks. Security sources revealed that he had recently been sent to Mogadishu to carry out terrorist activities after NISA successfully dismantled several Al-Shabaab networks responsible for assassinations and bombings in the city.
NISA has intensified its operations to eliminate the remaining Al-Shabaab operatives attempting to orchestrate attacks against the Somali people. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country and preventing extremist plots before they materialize.
