July 1st this year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of China (CPC). When the CPC was founded in 1921, it had only more than 50 members, and today it has developed into more than 94 million members. Along the way, the CPC has been able to develop and grow in the most populous country in the world for a hundred years, and has been supported and loved by the people. Many scholars in the world are studying the CPC. What kind of political party is the CPC? Let me give you a brief introduction.
One, under the strong leadership of the CPC, the Chinese people toppled the three great mountains of imperialism, feudalism and bureaucrat-capitalism that were oppressing the Chinese people, and established the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese people got rid of the old China, which had been exploited, oppressed, bullied and enslaved since the Opium War of 1840, realized China’s independence, richer and stronger and social stability. Hundreds of millions of people have bee liberated and run the new China.
Two, the CPC upholds to the vision of “only hard work can make our country prosperous and strong and our people better off”. Through 70 years of arduous struggle, it led the whole Chinese people to establish a relatively complete socialist industrialization system in 1958, implemented reform and opening up in 1978, became the second largest economy in the world in 2010, and won the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and getting rid of poverty in 2020, as a decisive result of the hard struggle, the people embarked on the path of common prosperity, and the country achieved prosperity. Since the founding of New China, it has upheld and improved the system of people’s congresses, the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC, the system of regional ethnic autonomy.
Three, the the CPC is to seek happiness for the people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, remains committed to people-centered, governing for the people, putting people’s interests first and lives first, improve the system through which the people are the masters of the country, bringing benefits to the people, serving them, addressing their concerns, take always the aspirations of the people live a better life as the Party’s goal of efforts, meeting the needs of the people’s ever-growing for a better life. The CPC has always maintained our Party’s deep bond with the people, taking the support of the people as the unfailing source of our Party’s strength, fully mobilizing the enthusiasm of the people, and forming a mighty force in building the country and realizing the Chinese Dream.
Four, the CPC is a party that constantly innovates, improves and makes progress itself. The CPC has always been strengthening its own political foundations, buttress ideological commitment, improving conduct, combating corruption, promoting the core socialist values, and advocating and practicing values such as loyalty, honesty, impartiality, pragmatism, and integrity, and resolutely opposing corruption. Party organizations at all levels of the CPC have set up discipline inspection and supervision institutions to take zero tolerance of corrupt elements. Always keeps in mind “one should be mindful of possible danger in times of peace, downfall in times of survival, and chaos in times of stability”, “Be alert to danger in times of peace, and be wary of unrest in times of stability”, have strengthened the responsibility, and maintained a sense of hardship and risk, to remain true to party’s original aspiration and founding mission.
Five, the CPC advocates making contributions to human peace and development. Adhering to an independent foreign policy of peace, sticking to the path of peaceful development, the development vision of innovation, coordination, green, open and sharing, and staying committed to the strategy of opening up for mutual benefit and win-win results. We firmly safeguard national independence and sovereignty, oppose hegemonism and power politics, safeguard world peace and promote human progress. On the basis of the five principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non aggression, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence, we develop relations with other countries and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. We adhere to multilateralism and promote and facilitate free trade and investment, oppose protectionism and unilateralism, adhere to the equality of all countries, no matter big or small, rich or poor, advanced or backward, and advocate cultural exchanges and learning from each other, so as to build an open ,inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security, and common prosperity.
The leadership of the CPC is the defining feature of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The greatest strength of the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics is the leadership of the CPC, the embodiment of the common will and fundamental interests of the people of all ethnic groups in China, and the fundamental guarantee for the great victory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. As a country with a population of 1.4 billion, fully building a modern socialist country, China must have the leadership of the CPC in order to achieve economic development, political clarity, cultural prosperity, social justice and good ecology，fully build a modern socialist country.
