Mogadishu, (SONNA) – A coordinated airstrike operation between the Federal Government of Somalia and U.S. Forces AFRICOM successfully targeted ISIS militants hiding in the Caal Miskeed Mountains of Puntland.
The U.S. Air Force executed the strikes on the evening of February 21 and continued into February 22, 2025, aiming to support the Puntland Darawish Forces in their efforts to eliminate the remaining ISIS extremists.
Initial assessments reveal that three ISIS members were killed, with no reported civilian casualties.
The Federal Government of Somalia, in partnership with AFRICOM, will continue to evaluate the results of this ongoing operation and provide updates to the public as new information becomes available.
