Mogadishu, Somalia, SONNA – A recent operation against al-Shabaab on June 16th has been confirmed as a significant victory for Somali National Forces and their international partners.

Somali National News Agency can now confirm, as an SNA Officer has reported, that the airstrike successfully eliminated key Al-Shabaab leaders Aden Abdirahman Aden and Idiris Abdirahim Nur, who was of Kenyan national origin, and a total of 43 Al-Shabaab fighters.

The operation targeted a meeting place of Al-Shabaab leaders in an area 14 km from Jamame district in Lower Jubba region. The meeting was planning an attack on Barsanguni Military Base, which is home to both Somali National Army and Local State Forces.

The successful disruption of this planned attack demonstrates the effectiveness of the ongoing efforts to combat al-Shabaab and protect the people of Somalia.

This victory marks a significant step forward in the fight against terrorism and highlights the dedication and bravery of the Somali National Forces and their international partners.
