The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and his delegation landed in Kampala, Uganda, on Friday, where they received a cordial reception. The president is expected to attend a ceremony to formally ratify Somalia’s membership in the Regional Organization for Economic Cooperation in East Africa.
Somalia became the newest member of the EAC on November 24, after years of lobbying by its leaders. The EAC is a regional economic bloc that aims to promote trade, investment, and integration among its member states.
