Nairobi, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Public Works, Reconstruction and Housing of the Federal Government of Somalia convened a high-level meeting at the Somali Embassy in Nairobi, bringing together UN-Habitat and ADHI AFRICA HOLDING LTD. to advance cooperation on sustainable housing solutions.
The meeting was led by the State Minister of Public Works and Housing, Said Mohamed Mahmoud (Xayd), alongside Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya, Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration to develop innovative, durable, and inclusive housing solutions tailored for internally displaced persons (IDPs), low-income households, and vulnerable communities—particularly those heavily impacted by displacement and rapid urbanization.
Somalia has been exploring practical approaches to accelerate both urban and rural development, improve infrastructure systems, and promote inclusive planning frameworks that ensure equitable access to safe and dignified housing.
The meeting reflects a unified commitment between government leadership, international partners, and the private sector to deliver people-centered and sustainable housing solutions. Officials expressed optimism that the shared vision would translate into tangible and measurable progress on the ground.
