Beijing, (SONNA) — The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to China, Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, held a productive meeting with officials from the China Geological Survey, a leading national institution specializing in earth sciences, geospatial data, and natural resource management.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas of training, skills development, technical knowledge exchange, and institutional capacity building for Somali agencies working in natural resources and environmental management.
The China Geological Survey plays a key role in supporting African countries through land management, urban planning, groundwater security, drought mitigation, and disaster risk reduction. The agency is also part of the Belt and Road Initiative, which promotes economic infrastructure and international development cooperation.
Ambassador Hodan Osman Abdi emphasized Somalia’s commitment to building strong institutions and developing highly skilled professionals to take advantage of global development opportunities. She also highlighted the need for effective partnerships to support land governance, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and improved public service delivery.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to expand the strategic partnership between Somalia and China, with a focus on knowledge transfer, technology, and sustainable development.
