The governments of Somalia and Qatar have agreed to enhance their cooperation in legal matters, according to a statement from the Somali Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs.
The statement said that the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Maallim Mohamud, and the Minister of Justice of Qatar, Mr. Ibrahim Bin Ali Almuhannadi, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on legal cooperation on Saturday in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The MoU covers various aspects of legal cooperation, such as the exchange of information and experiences in drafting and studying agreements and memorandums of understanding, legal and judicial research, legal and judicial training programs, and the development of the skills and knowledge of jurists, lawyers and notaries.
The statement added that the two ministers also held a bilateral meeting to discuss the relations between the two countries, the justice cooperation, the constitutional process of Somalia, the justice sector reform, and the need for sharing experiences and best practices in the field of law.
The signing of the MoU is expected to strengthen the ties between Somalia and Qatar, which have been supportive of each other in various fields, such as security, development, humanitarian aid, and diplomacy.
