State Minister Presents National Defence Bill to the Parliament for First Reading

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The State Minister for Defence, H.E. Omar Ali Abdi, today presented the first-reading report on the National Defence Bill, prepared by the Ministry of Defence, to members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
The 15th sitting of the eighth parliamentary session was chaired by the Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur (Jaamac).
The State Minister answered MPs’ questions and responded to their observations on the Bill’s general principles, in accordance with Article 84 of the House’s Rules of Procedure.
The National Defence Bill is important to establishing and strengthening the legal framework for national defence. Members of the House of the People will debate the Bill in the coming days as it progresses towards consideration for approval.
