Minister of Information Receives Arab League Ambassador to Somalia

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Abdifatah Kasim Mohamud, received the Ambassador of the League of Arab States to Somalia, Abdullah bin Mutlaq Al-Otaibi, at the ministry’s headquarters in Mogadishu.

The two officials toured key departments of the ministry, including the National Archives, Somali National Television, Radio Mogadishu and the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), where they met with officials and staff.

Following the tour, the minister and ambassador discussed strengthening cooperation between Somalia and the League of Arab States in media, culture, tourism, Arabic language development, and efforts to combat misinformation and disinformation.

Ambassador Al-Otaibi commended the Ministry’s efforts to promote and revive the Arabic language and affirmed the League’s readiness to support these efforts and strengthen cooperation in media and culture.

The two officials also visited the National Theatre, where they were warmly welcomed by Waaberi National Band and traditional performers, who presented cultural and artistic performances reflecting Somalia’s heritage.

The visit underscored the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between Somalia and the League of Arab States in media, culture, tourism and Arabic language development.
