Mogadishu, SONNA – Sheikh Abukar Mohamed, the spokesman for the Ministry of Defence, detailed the latest successful operations conducted by the Somali National Army (SNA) with the support of local residents.

One of the key operations took place in Burfule, located in area number 50 of the Lower Shabelle region. The 14th October Brigade, in collaboration with the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) and local authorities, executed a strategic offensive that resulted in substantial losses for the Khawarij insurgents.

Sheikh Abukar highlighted that the National Army has made significant strides in defeating the Khawarij, who had been terrorizing civilians and hiding in the forests spanning the Bay and Gedo regions, as well as the Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud regions.

In another operation, Brigade 77 targeted the area of Ali Heele in the El Dheer District of Galgaduud Region. This operation led to the elimination of 10 Khawarij members and the destruction of a vehicle belonging to Abdi Bile, from which Al-Shabaab terrorists had fled.

Additionally, the National Forces launched an assault on Al-Shabaab militants in the Jowhar-Awdheegle area of the Lower Shabelle region, delivering a heavy blow to the insurgents.

During the press conference, Sheikh Abukar confirmed that several members of the Khawarij had surrendered to the National Forces.

These operations emphasize the relentless efforts of the Somali armed forces and the local population to combat the threat posed by the Khawarij, aiming to ensure the security and stability of the nation.
