President Ismail Omar Guelleh Secures Decisive Electoral Victory, Commends the Citizens of Djibouti for Securing Democratic Continuity

DJIBOUTI (SONNA) — The President of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, has formally expressed his profound gratitude to the Djiboutian public following the highly successful conclusion of the national elections, where he secured a definitive majority mandate. Addressing the nation, the President recognized the massive civic mobilization as a clear demonstration of the republic’s commitment to continuous stability and absolute national unity.

The overwhelming voter turnout, visibly characterized by massive public rallies and an intensely energized electorate across the capital, directly validates the current administration’s long-term developmental agenda. By actively participating in this democratic process, the citizens of Djibouti have explicitly authorized the continuation of major infrastructural and economic modernization campaigns. President Guelleh emphasized that this victory does not belong solely to his political administration, but represents a collective mandate from the people to aggressively drive the nation toward a highly prosperous and secure future.

For the broader Horn of Africa, this electoral outcome provides immediate geopolitical predictability. The Federal Government of Somalia actively recognizes Djibouti’s political continuity as a critical asset for the region’s security architecture. Maintaining a stable, democratically mandated administration in Djibouti guarantees the secure flow of international trade through the highly strategic Red Sea corridor and strongly fortifies the collaborative defense initiatives currently operating across East Africa. Mogadishu views this democratic success as a shared victory for regional integration.
