MOGADISHU (SONNA) — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, officially commissioned the advanced Turkish offshore drilling vessel, Çağrı Bey, during a high-level state ceremony at the Port of Mogadishu today. This executive deployment marks the formal commencement of Somalia’s deep-sea hydrocarbon exploration, firmly transitioning the nation into an active participant in the global energy market.

Addressing the national strategic vision, President Hassan Sheikh declared that the arrival of the Çağrı Bey represents a highly calculated operational leap toward absolute economic expansion, large-scale investment generation, and massive domestic job creation. He delivered a strict directive regarding resource governance, stating that the Federal Government prioritizes the highly responsible and transparent extraction of natural wealth exclusively for the direct benefit of the Somali citizens.

The President firmly guaranteed that the national administration maintains an uncompromising commitment to equitable wealth distribution and institutional integrity. All future revenues generated from the hydrocarbon sector will be directly channeled into funding critical public services, advancing state infrastructure projects, and securing permanent regional stability. Furthermore, he expressed profound gratitude to the Republic of Turkiye for its highly effective bilateral alliance. He commended Ankara for its continuous strategic support in reconstructing the Somali state architecture and rapidly expanding its domestic economic capabilities.

The historic commissioning at the maritime port demonstrated the massive political and diplomatic weight of this energy initiative. The executive assembly included the Deputy Speaker of the House of the People, the Prime Minister of the Federal Government, the President of the Galmudug State, various federal cabinet ministers, and the Mayor of Mogadishu. They were joined by the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, alongside a powerful contingent of international ambassadors and high-ranking dignitaries, completely validating the global magnitude of this joint operation.
