Mogadishu, 24, November, 2025 -The Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF), together with local forces, last night conducted a planned operation in the Cali Heele area, 30 km west of Masagawaay district in the Galgaduud region.
The precision operation resulted in the neutralisation of a senior Al-Shabaab terrorist commander, Ahmed Sheikh Omar Cadow Gacal, who oversaw militant units operating in Middle Shabelle. He was a key architect of attacks against civilians and played a central role in coordinating militant movements and improvised explosive device (IED) operations across Middle Shabelle, Hiraan, and Galgaduud.
The Ministry of Defence and the SNA Command commend the bravery and sacrifice of the forces involved, and reaffirm that counter-terrorism operations will continue across all operational fronts until the remaining terrorist networks are fully dismantled and national security is assured.
