Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Commander of the Somali National Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, officially inaugurated a meeting of intelligence chiefs from member states of the East African Community (EAC), scheduled to run from April 29–30, 2026.
The meeting is focused on assessing the security situation across East African countries and the wider region, with participants discussing prevailing challenges and ways to strengthen intelligence cooperation.
In his opening remarks, the Commander addressed Somalia’s security landscape, broader regional dynamics, and the critical importance of intelligence collaboration. He also highlighted progress made in the reform and recovery of the Somali National Army.
He concluded by thanking the participating delegations and expressed hope that the meeting would yield tangible and effective outcomes.
