Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ambassador the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Fathudin Ali Mohamed “Fathi Ospite,” today met with Mr. Yusuf Kıraç, President of the Turkish Space Agency (TUA), to discuss progress on Somalia’s strategic spaceport project, which is currently under construction.
The meeting focused on exchanging views on the development of the spaceport, a landmark initiative expected to position Somalia as a future hub for satellite and rocket launches while expanding cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye in the fields of science and technology.
Once completed, the project is anticipated to create significant opportunities for Somali youth in science, technology, innovation, research, and other high-skilled sectors. It is also expected to contribute to knowledge transfer, capacity building, and economic growth, while further strengthening the strategic partnership between Somalia and Türkiye.
The spaceport project represents a major step toward advancing Somalia’s participation in the global space and technology sector and fostering long-term scientific and technological development.
